The Front Page

Welcome to the Front Page, the digital cover of the Wayne Press.  Here we will share with you things that can't be captured in our newsletter--videos, music, color photographs--as well as articles that reflect on faith and life.

Meals and Wheels

I spoke recently to a church member who was facing surgery, a hospital stay, and a six-week recovery period.  As a parent of young children, she was feeling a bit overwhelmed, and asked, “Don’t they know that I can’t languish in the hospital for days?  Don’t they know I need to be at home, even if I can’t cook, or drive or go to soccer games?”

The Deacon Board understands the crises of life, and incorporates these concerns into their outreach to our congregation and community.

Through the Deacon ‘Care and Compassion’ ministry, members of our church are available to cook and deliver a meal when you or your loved one is homebound.

Through the Congregational Service committee, Deacons arrange rides to church on Sundays for those who no longer drive, or facilitate your transportation to doctors’ appointments.

Through the Community Service ministry, our Red Cross Blood Drive makes available hundreds of pints a year of blood for safe transfusions during your surgery.

When you miss worship because of recuperation and recovery at home, Deacons make the sermon available on our website or on your own iPod.

If your days seem long and dreary, Deacons on the Care and Compassion team will make ‘house calls,’ either in-person or over the telephone.

Let us know how we can help!   Contact Anne Clark Duncan, Bill Thompson or Lauren Huggins in the church office, or Meg Rosecky, the Moderator or our Deacon Board.

Our hope is that you won’t reach a ‘crisis’ place at all….but if you do, we want to be there with you.
