The Front Page

Welcome to the Front Page, the digital cover of the Wayne Press.  Here we will share with you things that can't be captured in our newsletter--videos, music, color photographs--as well as articles that reflect on faith and life.

Lent, Day 37

Brian Wren was a professor at Columbia Seminary when I was there and is the author of many hymns in our hymnal.  He wrote this prayer and while it's really for Maundy Thursday, I wanted to share it with you today.

Great God, in Christ you call our name
and then receive us as your own,
not through some merit, right or claim
but by your gracious love alone.
We strain to glimpse your mercy-seat
and find you kneeling at our feet.
Then take the towel, and break the bread,
and humble us, and call us friends.
Suffer and serve till all are fed,
and show how grandly love intends
to work till all creation sings,
to fill all worlds, to crown all things.

I hope you'll join us for worship tomorrow at 7:30pm in the Sanctuary if you are able.  It will be a service of communion and a tenebrae service.
