Lent 3.23

Sometimes we need a little levity in this season of Lent.  So it is in that spirit that I share this picture with you.  It's a take on the common call of Lent, "sinners, repent!"

It's silly, I know.  And yet, there is something wonderful about joy even in the midst of a season of repentance, a season when we often dwell in our sinfulness.  We are people who know how the story ends.  We are people who know that we don't stay in the ash and sackcloth, people who trust that joy comes in the morning.  We replay and tell the story of Jesus and his journey to the cross each and every Lent, lingering in the pain and suffering as we go, but we know that the story ends in joy, amazement and wonder.

May the wonder of the cross fill you this day, even as you repent and turn back to God.
