The Front Page

Welcome to the Front Page, the digital cover of the Wayne Press.  Here we will share with you things that can't be captured in our newsletter--videos, music, color photographs--as well as articles that reflect on faith and life.

Lent 3.11

As we end the week when we focus on temptation, ponder these words by Walter Brueggemann in his book, Sabbath as Resistance.

"Multitasking is the drive to be more than we are, to control more than we do, to extend our power and our effectiveness.  Such practice yields a divided self, with full attention given to nothing."

Try today to be mindful in what you are doing, at least for a few minutes.  Give your full attention to eating your breakfast, dwelling on the tastes of each bite.  Or perhaps you can give your full attention to a conversation with a friend or a child, just taking in and listening to what they say without regard to what you have to do next or what you want to say next.  And if you're really bold, try to give a few minutes of your full attention to God.  When we are fully present, we are more able to be fully present to the One who is always present.  Blessings on your day.

Peace,
Laurie
