Welcome to the Front Page, the digital cover of the Wayne Press.  Here we will share with you things that can't be captured in our newsletter--videos, music, color photographs--as well as articles that reflect on faith and life.

Day 14, Advent

In worship on Sunday we read the words from Isaiah, "A shoot shall come out from the stump of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots."  This prophesy pointed us to the coming of Jesus, the one promised from long ago.  In the picture below, we see an interpretation of this prophesy from the Chickasaw/Choctaw worldview.  The branches growing from the star of David lead to Mary cradling Baby Jesus and remind us of the mothers and fathers who came before Jesus and are connected to his story.

In Advent we look back on the story we know, as well as trust that those branches continue to grow from Jesus.  They are branches that hold our mothers and fathers in faith, include us, and will continue to grow until God's full redemption comes.

Peace,
Laurie
