The Front Page

Welcome to the Front Page, the digital cover of the Wayne Press.  Here we will share with you things that can't be captured in our newsletter--videos, music, color photographs--as well as articles that reflect on faith and life.

Day 1, Advent

Advent begins today!  It is the season of holy waiting, when we wait on the Lord to come and wait to celebrate his birth.  It is a time when we prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ and live as God's beloved children.  It is a time when we can devote more of our attention or more of ourselves to serving God in the world.

Check out the blog each day for a poem, prayer, video or song to guide you on your Advent journey.

As we begin our Advent walk, let us do so centering ourselves on God who comes to us in these powerful words from Isaiah 40.

Comfort, O comfort my people,
   says your God.
Speak tenderly to Jerusalem,
   and cry to her
that she has served her term,
   that her penalty is paid,
that she has received from the Lord’s hand
   double for all her sins.

A voice cries out:
‘In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord,
make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
Every valley shall be lifted up,
   and every mountain and hill be made low;
the uneven ground shall become level,
and the rough places a plain.
Then the glory of the Lord shall be revealed,
and all people shall see it together,
for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.’

Let us pray that we may prepare ourselves for God this season and join with God in working for justice.
