The Front Page

Welcome to the Front Page, the digital cover of the Wayne Press.  Here we will share with you things that can't be captured in our newsletter--videos, music, color photographs--as well as articles that reflect on faith and life.

Advent, Day 7

From time to time, the children's committee sends an e-newsletter to parents of children.  One popped up in my inbox this week and I thought the opening article by Kelli Masters, our director for children's ministry was faithful and inviting.  Here is is for all of you.

It's the most wonderful time of the year!...at least that's what the song says.  Does it feel that way?  Do you look forward to the season of Advent as the peaceful time of reflection and gratitude for God's amazing gift of Jesus?  Are you busy making plans for the glorious celebration of Jesus' birth?  Are you confident that Christ will be the heart and soul of your holiday this year?  Huh....me neither :-/

It's tough, isn't it?...to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus at this most wonderful time of the year.  It's difficult to remain peaceful in the chaos, to remain grateful in the abundance of marketing, to remain focused amidst the distractions.  And then, if you are like me, you have to deal with the guilt that you've failed to meet all of your "keep Jesus at the center" goals for the season.  Argh!!

How about if we try a little easier this year?  What if we decided to simply breathe in the middle of it all?  Perhaps a long checkout line is a break from the hustle.  Maybe a cranky child is an opportunity to stop and snuggle.  Might the time spent gift wrapping be a few moments of prayer and gratitude for the ones we are blessed to love?  What if we breathe holiness into the middle of the business instead of adding it to the to do list?I am going to give it a try.

Care to join me?  If it goes well, perhaps I'll keep going right on into the New Year!

Blessed Christmas!  Mrs. M

I'm sure Mrs. M would love to hear how this is going for you.  As would I.
Peace,
Laurie
