The Front Page

Welcome to the Front Page, the digital cover of the Wayne Press.  Here we will share with you things that can't be captured in our newsletter--videos, music, color photographs--as well as articles that reflect on faith and life.

40 Days

The season of Lent begins today and is often a time to engage in a new spiritual discipline or find ways to deepen your relationship with God.  As your church, we hope to do what we can to help you find new or familiar ways to connect with God and grow in your faith.  So to mark this season of Lent, we're going to post something each day during the Lenten season.  It may be a quote or poem or prayer.  It may come with reflection or without comment.  So check back each day (except Sundays) and see what is inspiring us and open yourselves to God's movement in your lives and in the world.

Here's today's thought:

"Ash Wednesday is full of joy...The source of all sorrow is the illusion that of ourselves we are anything but dust."  -Thomas Merton

While Ash Wednesday may not be traditionally thought of as a joyful day, it's a reminder of the bold claim that we are not in control, but we trust in a sovereign God who is both all powerful and all loving.  While this might not seem like good news, it is in fact great news.  We are not in control.  We are not responsible for our own salvation.  We are not in charge of making sure that everything and everyone is okay.  Even on our best days, this has to come as great relief.

See you tomorrow!
