Advent, Day 20

Someone shared this with me and I wanted to share it with you.  It reminds us that Advent is not a time simply to feel cozy and warm, that all the days are not warm and bright.  And yet, we hope in the one who came and will come again.  It's a great reminder of the power of gentleness and prayer. Advent Meditation on Philippians 4:4-7  By Justin K. Coleman   Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your gentleness be known to everyone.... Read More

Advent, Day 19

Two of our awesome Westminster Choir youth made this video, and while it's a Christmas song and not an Advent song, it just makes me feel merry and bright.  May it fill you with joy today too! As we are a week away from Christmas Eve, I hope you'll join us for worship at 4pm, 7pm (with the Westminster Choir) or 10pm.   Peace, Laurie Read More

Advent, Day 17

I hope you'll check out this daily, online devotion.  It's designed for young people, but they are always great devotions.  It's quick too and only takes a few minutes.  They offer the devotion every day of the year, but during Advent they also have this lovely music that goes with it.  It's good to have on in the background as you cook or work or go from place to place.   Hope you enjoy d365.org this Advent day. Peace, Laurie Read More

Even the chattiest stop chattering as they wait in darkness for the curtain to rise. In the orchestra pit, the violin bows are poised. The conductor has raised the baton. In the silence of a midwinter dusk there is far off in the deeps of it somewhere a sound so faint that for all you can tell it may be only the sound of the... Read More
