When Should You or Your Loved Ones Stop Driving?

Ed knew when he drove down a narrow street with cars parked on both sides that he was anxious.  He blamed it on old roads overburdened with new traffic. A week later, when pulling out of a tight parking space in front of the eye doctor’s office, he bumped the fender of the car next to him.  He blamed it on the drops in his eyes. His explanations in each situation were legitimate, but he downsized from a full sized car to a small SUV. Soon after making the purchase, he... Read More

Jeff on the Psalms

During Lent, we are singing the appointed Psalm of the day in place of the second hymn.  The custom of singing Psalms in worship transcends Christianity itself.  For most of the church’s history, Psalm singing was the norm.  This tradition has been turned on its head in the relatively recent past.  The following article published in Reformed Worship in 1987 gives some insight into how this came about.  [The article has been slightly abridged.]  We Used to Sing... Welcome to the Blog

There are certain things I want to share with the congregation that just don't work on the front page of the Wayne Press.  Sometimes it is a song, like our Oratorio singing the Hallelujah Chorus, sometimes it is an article from the New York Times, sometimes it is a video made by our youth group, and sometimes it's a conversation with a co-worker about their area of expertise (see Aisha Brooks-Lytle's interview coming up later this week). That's why we've started this blog.  It is our... Read More
